We invite all language teachers and course directors in vocational education and other contexts to attend this special free and face-to-face event presenting the results of the Erasmus+-funded TBL4Tourism project.

In this project, alongside partners from across Europe, SLB worked closely with the tourism industry and vocational training institutions to:

  • Conduct a needs analysis of the language requirements of workers and trainees in the restaurant and hospitality sector, specifically waiters
  • Design a task-based syllabus for waiters based on the results of the needs analysis
  • Design a free, online self-access training course on Task-Based Teaching aimed at vocational language teachers and beyond

Neil McMillan of SLB, alongside co-op members who worked on the project, will present the results, run mini-workshops on the syllabus, materials and training course produced by the project, and lead a discussion of its potential impact. Although the project considered English as the main target language, the results should be relevant to teachers of other languages too.

Participants will get early access to the online course alongside samples of the task-based units and accompanying materials to use or adapt for their own classes. We hope that any teachers interested in communicative approaches such as TBLT, not only vocational trainers, will enjoy and benefit from this session.

Vermut, other refreshments and pica-pica will be provided, and there will be ample opportunities for socialising and networking! So please RSVP below to reserve your place now.
