Teaching through the pandemic
When the pandemic came, there was a rush within the ELT industry to move online. Learning management systems, video conferencing software, digital flashcards went from being helpful and complementary to fundamental. What would once have been seen as innovative was suddenly indispensable.
As it was all kicking off in 2020, as an organisation we did what we could to support our members and the teaching community with the transition:
- In March: James, Anita and Sean ran a free webinar to help teachers get to grips with Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Flipgrid.
- In April: Neil and Myles discussed their experiences for an SLB podcast episode.
- In June: Simon and Myles surveyed the impact it had on language teachers in Barcelona during the first lockdown.
Two years on, with widespread Zoom-weariness and Moodle-madness, it’s worth reflecting on our shared experiences. How have we fared? What has worked? What hasn’t? What should we keep? What still needs to change?
So, with this as a premise, we’re really excited to announce our first face-to face, public event since ‘the before times’!
