Neil is an experienced and versatile teacher of English, in addition to a teacher-trainer, writer and translator. He holds a Diploma in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) as well as a Ph.D in literature from the University of Glasgow, and has over 15 years’ classroom experience working with adults, teenagers and children from all over the world.
A native of Perth, Scotland, Neil worked for several years in public education in Glasgow before running a teacher-training project in Guatemala and finally moving to Barcelona, where he now lives.
While he feels comfortable with any level of student, Neil specialises in more advanced groups and has enjoyed particular success preparing students for the Cambridge Advanced (CAE) and Proficiency (CPE) examinations, as well as IELTS and other programmes providing access to university study in English. Additionally, he is adept at working with Catalan and Spanish into English and has expertise in translating and proofreading general, academic and literary texts.
My classes are dynamic and challenging, combining a sense of fun with a serious focus on expanding vocabulary and improving pronunciation to help students communicate more effectively and naturally. Whatever your goals, I will strive to help you achieve them!
